5 Easy Steps to Confidence

Confidence is like motivation. Sometimes you have bucket loads, other times it up and leaves and goes on holiday without so much as a postcard.

That’s when those bad tenants move in – they’re called self-doubt, anxiety and self-judgement.

Next time your confidence has fled and left you huddled under the donna, try these tips.

  1. Don’t beat yourself up: I only have one rule. It guides everything I do and everything I ask of my clients… ‘DON’T BEAT YOURSELF UP’. It really is the only rule you need and the other points are really just tips to assist with the ‘not beating yourself up’ part.

  2. Know who you are and what you stand for: Really get to know yourself. What floats your boat? How do you want to feel? What are your values? What are your cycles and patterns? By getting to know yourself intimately, you can acknowledge those times when you feel like hiding away. Trying to ignore those feelings may cause you to fall into a cycle of procrastination and a thought pattern that screams ‘you are not enough!’ Acknowledge those feelings early on and then you can deal with them effectively.

  3. Surround yourself with awesome people: Allow your champions, support crew, family, friends and mentors to lift you up and remind you how wonderful you are. While you’re at it, check out old thank you notes, awards, love letters, references and testimonials. Remind yourself of all the good you do.

  4. Don’t compare: Comparing kills creativity and confidence. Instead, look to others for inspiration and guidance. Remember, in the whole world there is only one unique you.

  5. Me Time: Get outside, meditate, dance, sing, have a massage or whatever makes you feel great.

BONUS TIP:

  1. Create a circle of confidence: When you are feeling less than confident, close your eyes, imagine a circle on the ground in front of you. Give it a colour, one you associate with confidence. Remember a time when you felt confident and in control. Step inside the circle. For full instructions click the link here and grab your copy.

Step into confidence by really getting to know yourself.
